Refund Policy

Last updated: June 29, 2026

How refund requests are reviewed for paid atlas features, including subscription renewals and Paddle-processed payments.

1. Scope

This Refund Policy applies to paid Places Beyond Reality plans, subscriptions, renewals, and digital account features purchased through placesbeyondreality.com or a checkout flow connected to the service.

Payments may be processed by Paddle. Depending on your location and checkout flow, Paddle may act as merchant of record and/or payment processor, issue invoices and receipts, calculate taxes, and help process refunds.

2. Digital service access

Places Beyond Reality provides digital access to account features and curated atlas functionality. Paid access may begin shortly after successful checkout. Because digital services can be used immediately, refunds are not automatic unless required by law or expressly approved under this policy.

3. Refund window

If you are not satisfied with a first-time paid subscription purchase, you may request a refund within 14 days of the initial purchase date. We will review the request and may approve a refund when the account is in good standing and there is no evidence of abuse, fraud, excessive use, or violation of our Terms of Service.

Renewals, plan changes, and repeat purchases are generally non-refundable unless required by law or unless there was a billing error attributable to Places Beyond Reality or Paddle.

4. Subscription cancellation

You may cancel a subscription before its next renewal date to stop future billing. Cancellation does not automatically refund charges that have already been processed.

After cancellation, your paid access may continue until the end of the current billing period unless checkout, account, or Paddle settings state otherwise.

5. Renewal reminders and missed cancellations

You are responsible for managing your subscription before renewal. If you forgot to cancel before a renewal, contact us promptly at support@placesbeyondreality.com. We will review the request, but approval is not guaranteed except where required by law.

6. Billing errors and duplicate charges

If you believe you were charged incorrectly, charged twice, billed after cancellation, or assigned the wrong plan, contact us at support@placesbeyondreality.com with the email used for checkout, the Paddle receipt or transaction ID, and a description of the issue.

Verified billing errors will be corrected, which may include a refund, plan correction, account credit where available, or coordination with Paddle.

7. Taxes, currency, and fees

Prices may include or exclude taxes depending on checkout presentation and applicable law. Paddle may calculate and collect VAT, GST, sales tax, or similar taxes.

Refunded amounts may differ from the original amount received in your local currency because of taxes, exchange rates, card issuer fees, bank fees, or payment network rules. Places Beyond Reality does not control third-party bank or card fees.

8. Abuse and ineligible requests

We may refuse refund requests that appear abusive, fraudulent, connected to terms violations, based on repeated purchase-and-refund behavior, or made after substantial use of paid features.

We may also deny refunds for service interruptions caused by user devices, third-party networks, browser settings, unsupported environments, or inability to use features after violating the Terms of Service.

9. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute, Paddle, your card issuer, and payment networks may handle the dispute under their own procedures. We may suspend paid access while a chargeback is pending and provide evidence of account activity, checkout records, invoices, and policy terms as part of the dispute response.

10. How to request a refund

Send refund requests to support@placesbeyondreality.com. Include the email address used at checkout, your Paddle receipt or transaction ID if available, the purchase date, and the reason for the request.

We aim to review requests within a reasonable time. Approved refunds are usually returned to the original payment method through Paddle or the relevant payment provider. Processing times depend on Paddle, payment networks, banks, and card issuers.

11. Mandatory consumer rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits non-waivable consumer rights that apply in your jurisdiction. If local law gives you a mandatory cancellation, refund, withdrawal, or warranty right, that right applies even if this policy says otherwise.

12. Changes to this Refund Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The policy in effect at the time of purchase generally applies to that purchase unless a later version is more favorable to you or required by law.
